I’ve developed an odd proclivity
I’ve developed an odd proclivity
I’VE DEVELOPED AN ODD PROCLIVITY
I say everything repetitively
I say everything repetitively
I SAY EVERYTHING REPETITIVELY
For me to say something one time, or two
For me to say something one time, or two
FOR ME TO SAY SOMETHING ONE TIME, OR TWO
It falls on deaf ears—this is nothing new
It falls on deaf ears—this is nothing new
IT FALLS ON DEAF EARS—THIS IS NOTHING NEW
Rather than wait for an elusive response
Rather than wait for an elusive response
RATHER THAN WAIT FOR AN ELUSIVE RESPONSE
I say it three times if I say it once
I say it three times if I say it once
I SAY IT THREE TIMES IF I SAY IT ONCE
The third time said with an audible force
The third time said with an audible force
THE THIRD TIME IS SAID WITH AN AUDIBLE FORCE
A shout when compared to normal discourse
A shout when compared to normal discourse
A SHOUT WHEN COMPARED TO NORMAL DISCOURSE
The odd thing is that the children I grew
The odd thing is that the children I grew
THE ODD THING IS THAT THE CHILDREN I GREW
Have no idea I do this—but I do
Have no idea I do this—but I do
HAVE NO IDEA I DO THIS—BUT I DO
Heard on the third, I’ve accepted the fact
Heard on the third, I’ve accepted the fact
HEARD ON THE THIRD, I’VE ACCEPTED THAT FACT
You may have guessed it—I’ve finally cracked
You may have guessed it—I’ve finally cracked
YOU MAY HAVE GUESSED IT—I’VE FINALLY CRACKED

I absolutely love this, Lydia. It is so true, not just for teens but sometimes spouses as well…spouses that get wrapped up in computer games LOL!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Lydia! I repeat myself at work as well as at home, but we do what we have to do to get the point across. 😉

This one is clever, priceless and certainly based in reality. You should have a column in a newspaper. You could write it in your “spare time. ” HA!!! Actually, what you post in your blog is suitable for publication. It deserves a wide audience.

I’m just amazed by what I know of your life from your writing that you find and take the time to write. It must be a preservation of sanity thing, right? But, can’t you find time to send a few into a parenting magazine?

Writing is what I do for myself. I do it at work, at red lights, in bed, when I should be cleaning the house… I will make it my goal to submit my work wherever I can think to submit it when my girls leave in the fall. I should have some extra time then. Thanks Judy. 😉

Reblogged this on lifelessons – a blog by Judy Dykstra-Brown and commented:
Anyone who has children, anyone who has been one, needs to read this poem and then nod a head and say, “So true!”
