What is Cowardice?

“Optimism is cowardice.” ~ Oswald Spengler

Why would Spengler bother to spread his pessimistic ideology for any reason other than hope of influencing people? Hope is optimism, which would make Spengler, by his own definition, a coward.

“Humor is the most engaging cowardice.” ~Robert Frost

This brings to mind the question of why six is afraid of seven. No, it is not because seven eight nine, it is because seven is a registered six offender.

“He who despairs of the human condition is a coward, but he who has hope for it is a fool.” ~Albert Camus

We are all cowards and fools.
