*Warning- this is an editorial containing opinions that may not be your own.
Initially Donald Trump was silent, no comment from his camp on efforts of Green Party candidate Jill Stein to call for a vote recount in three key states. Then the great emperor-elect tweeted his most weathered monosyllabic retorts: “scam” “rigged.” He has also accused Jill Stein of collecting money from donors for the recount under false pretenses- for her own personal financial gain.
The fact is there is compelling evidence to warrant a re-count:
* In Wisconsin, votes counted electronically consistently resulted in 7% fewer votes for Hillary Clinton than those ballots that were optically scanned.
* Countless studies including the Princeton study shown in the video below have proven electronic voter machines can easily be manipulated.
* Exit poles show Clinton had a lead ranging between 3-6% in key states, yet the results ended with a 3-6% lead for Trump.
Beyond that, Donald Trump would have demanded a recount regardless of any exit polls or statistical data or under any scenario where he did not win the election, he said as much. Does no one remember him repeatedly stating the only way he would not win the election was if it was “rigged?”
This is his normal. He is in the habit of projecting his own criminal behavior onto others. An example would be in 2006, when a judge ordered Donald Trump’s casino operation to hand over several years worth of emails, after which the emails were erased destroying all records from 1996 to 2001—in direct violation of said court order. Perhaps we should look back on all of the accusations Donald Trump has hurled at his opponents, and investigate him for all the same.My question:
Why does Trump care if the votes are re-counted? Even if tax dollars were used for a recount (which they are not), Donald Trump has not paid taxes in over twenty years, so there is no scenario that any of his money would ever be used for this endeavor. If I want to throw in my twenty dollars to aid in the effort to recount ballots, I don’t care how orange he is, I’ll do it. This recount is 100% funded by private citizens. Is he lashing out due to fear that this election will have a different outcome…or is it a fear more far reaching?
What else might be uncovered? A connection to Russia? U.S. intelligence agencies have determined that the Russian government actively interfered in our elections, illegally hacking private email accounts, then releasing them to WikiLeaks, with intent to harm the candidacy of Hillary Clinton. Trump is Vladimir Putin’s pawn. Putin has strategic goals in seeing Trump elected: recognition of the annexation of Crimea, a change in state borders, Russian control of all of Ukraine, dissolution of the EU and NATO, restoration of Russia as a great power, and restored dominance over the former Soviet bloc and its environs.
The popular vote has Clinton ahead by over two million votes, and approximately two million ballots, all in heavily democratic states still have yet to be counted. This clearly shows the will of the people is not reflected in the result of the election…thanks to the electoral college (whose purpose is to give selected members of the electoral college the ability to override election results).
Donald Trump is a despicable human being. His behavior has never been acceptable. His six bankruptcies demonstrate his inability to run anything ethically, or profitably. He has surrounded himself with people as hateful as he is, and is well on his way to transforming modern day U.S. to Nazi Germany 1943.
He is set to charge taxpayers millions to house the secret service in Trump Tower because he refuses to live full time at the White House, and by retaining his New York residence opens himself up to numerous conflicts of interest. His agenda is his own personal gain as evidenced by his planned tax cuts for the wealthiest 1% of the population. If he cared about the middle class he would have paid the middle class people he employed for the goods and services rendered each time he filed bankruptcy…instead they are waiting in line with 3,500 others who have filed lawsuits against him.
If the re-count doesn’t change the electoral count, and if the members of the electoral college elect Trump on December 19…only then I will find a way to live with this. But until then, I will hope for a different outcome.
