Inauguration…ugh

How very sad.

I may have taken the following quote out of context, but it sums things up for me today:

“unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed,” ~John F. Kennedy, inaugural address.

Supporters and protesters have intersected in the streets of Washington D.C. today as the most unpopular incoming president in at least four decades is sworn in. I will not watch the inauguration, nor will I mention Article I section 9, clause 8-The Emmoents Clause of the constitution, or Hamilton’s Federalist Paper #68 of the constitution, nor will I mention the horrifying infestation of grizzlies in American schools. I do wonder how the the celebrations taking place in Russia will compare to those in the U.S.The answer to the question we’ve all had has been answered. What shade of orange would the Donald sport today? Fluorescent burnt umber…meh.

“One thing life taught ye was how stupid it was to worry about things ye didnay know for sure, things that might no even happen, nay point in worrying about them,” ~James Kelman, Scottish writer

Let’s hope the things we are worried about dinna happen.

My child who goes to school in New York attended the Michael Moore rally last night. The list of speakers was impressive.

Two of the best signs in the crowd: “Nyet My President!” and “Not Mein Furher!”

Stay safe everyone, and march on.

  1. It’s time to start thinking of ways to unite this country. There are many who aren’t happy about what happened in the last election, but it’s over and we the people still have a voice. I love you Lydia, but the only way to get through this is to move forward – together. If not we will destroy this great nation from within.

  2. A rough day for sure. I agree with Atimetoshare that we need to work our way to some form of “together” again . . . but I’m just not sure yet what that is. It’ll have to start with mutual respect, which, unfortunately, is not being modeled from our new Tweeter-in-Chief. (Would it have hurt him to try to be magnanimous in his inaugural address!!??!!) We can do better than this, America!!!! (Rant over. Ugh.)
