Nunes in Position to Protect Trump

I am disgusted with our political system. Democrats in Washington seem to be powerless (due to numbers), and republicans are either in collusion with Trump, or they’re afraid to stick their necks out regardless of all the damning information available for any idiot (me) to see.

Trump and Spicer continue to deny all that is Russia, and yet Trump’s tight little group of co-conspirators, who are perfectly interspersed in various departments, continue to block and deflect every investigation pertaining to his ties to Russia. Why would an innocent man try to prevent witnesses from testifying when it would give him the opportunity to clear his name? I have a guess—he’s not an innocent man.

It has become clear that Devin Nunes, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, is part of Trump’s conspiracy to cover-up, and acting on Trump’s behalf by divulging intelligence to the White House, and canceling hearings before damaging testimony can be documented.

It has also come to light that Nunes was an advisor to Trump during the presidential campaign at the time when communications with Russia may have been underway.

Like Trump, Nunes has financial ties to Russia. According to the Los Angeles times, most of his net worth is tied up in a company called Alpha Omega Winery. Up until the last few days, Alpha Omega had listed Russian company Ludwig Trading Company as its distributor. Since Nunes has had this media attention with regards to the Russia/Trump investigation, Alpha Omega no longer lists the Russian company as its distributor.

Sally Yates and other former intelligence officials had been scheduled to testify before said committee this week, but the hearing was abruptly canceled by Nunes.

It has been reported that Yates was prepared to divulge information which would have confirmed VP Mike Pence knew about former national security advisor Mike Flynn’s discussions with Russia about sanctions prior to Trump’s inauguration.

Former CIA director John Brennan, had made clear to government officials that his testimony, and the testimony of other witnesses, including Yates, would contradict some statements made by White House officials.

Nunes partiality to Trump has raised some flags, and he has been asked by democrats and even some republicans to recuse himself, but has refused. In a Trump style statement he said democrats want him to step down because they know he is quite effective. Quite effective by whose standards…Putin’s?

Nunes will not voluntarily leave a position that gives him the power to suppress the process.  And regardless of his tweet, when asked if Nunes should recuse himself, ranking committee member Rep. Adam Schiff said “that’s a decision that Paul Ryan,” the House Speaker, “needs to make.” Of course Paul Ryan has no interest in recusing Nunes.

Meanwhile Trump’s lawyers are at work trying to permanently block all testimony. Yates was told by the administration her testimony will likely be barred from congressional hearing because the topics are covered by the “presidential communication privilege“.

“The Department of Justice has advised that it believes there are further constraints on the testimony Ms. Yates may provide at the [Intelligence Committee] hearing. Generally, we understand that the department takes the position that all information Ms. Yates received or actions she took in her capacity as Deputy Attorney General and acting Attorney General are client confidences that she may not disclose absent written consent of the department,’

What!? Yates needs Donald Trump’s permission to testify against Donald Trump? Wait a minute… the Justice Department is Jeff Sessions.

Nunes is successfully suppressing hearings regardless of the fact that Rep. Adam Schiff, ranking Democrat of the House Intelligence Committee, has said: “There is more than circumstantial evidence now,” and “I will say there is evidence that is not circumstantial, and it is very much worthy of investigation.”

He has also said the panel was aware that Yates “sought permission to testify from the White House”.

To which Scott Schools, Justice Department official, replied saying the conversations with the White House “are likely covered by the presidential communications privilege and possibly the deliberative process privilege. The president owns those privileges. Therefore, to the extent Ms. Yates needs consent to disclose the details of those communications to [the intelligence panel], she needs to consult with the White House.”

Again, the Department of Justice, (Jeff Sessions), is saying Sally Yates needs Donald Trump’s permission to testify against Donald Trump.

Yates’s attorney sent a response to the Trump’s lawyer, saying that “has been waived as a result of the multiple public comments of current senior White House officials describing the January 2017 communications. Nevertheless, I am advising the White House of Ms. Yates’ intention to provide information.’’

This whole thing is disgusting, and yet with all the information disseminated out there in cyberspace, available for any idiot (me) to peruse, Russia-gate will not be swept under Trump’s toupee. It’s just a matter of time until the entire clan is held accountable, and unless enough republicans stand against him, Trump might just take the entire republican party down with him.
